Tell Congress you want a clean budget, no poison pills! February 28, 2024

We’re once again looking at the possibility of a government shutdown due to congressional inaction on the Fiscal Year 2024 budget.

Unfortunately, House Republicans are not only proposing to cut billions of dollars from agencies like the EPA; they’re also trying to include dozens of dangerous amendments known as policy riders.

These “poison pill” riders could block all climate change Executive Orders from President Biden, prohibit emergency funding from being used for damages caused by climate change, nix environmental justice funding to the successful Justice40 program, strip the Consumer Product Safety Commission of its power to regulate harmful gas stoves, and more.

This request may seem familiar. That’s because we asked you to reach out to your Representatives back in November regarding fair funding for important agencies. Little to nothing has been accomplished since then, so it’s time to make our voices heard once more.
